| In April
2005, the NCHF presented a National Stakeholders’
Roundtable on partnering with the private sector. The
seminar provided an opportunity for decision-makers
from the private finance sector, government, academia,
community sector and housing industry to discuss the
risks and benefits of partnership.
The roundtable built on earlier work done by the Forum
including: a seminar - Financing Models for Social and
Affordable Housing held in August 2002; a seminar -
Private Finance and Community Housing held in May 2000,
on Private Finance and Community Housing; and a Finance
Roundtable held in March 1998.
Dr Vivienne Milligan, Director of the AHURI Sydney
Research Centre, delivered the opening address on housing
policy developments in Australia and overseas. A summarised
version of her presentation is available for download
here (110K PDF). The proceedings then centred on
a panel discussion on Private Public Partnerships: What
are the Risks, What are the Benefits?
